I made THIS blog because it's one of the many requirements i had have to obey back then. but, later on, i realize, what the heck ! i can write here all my anecdotes in life. meaning, so-so. XD. for this, im grateful for the professor who came up with the idea that we must had a BLOGGER, though, i want to strangle his neck for doing so. this kind of stuff is just so expensive and i'd rather buy my collectibles pocketbooks than to post blah-blah here.

MY PERSONAL VIEW OF LEARNING COMMUNITY

INTRODUCTION

Learning is an act or process of acquiring knowledge or skill. To acquire knowledge, one must have the eagerness to achieve his/her goal.
Learning is a continuous and a life-long process. A facilitative learning environment has a big impact on the students. Pine and Horne (1990) described that a learning environment must encourage people to be active. It permits confrontation. Which people feel they’re respected and well accepted, and it also recognizes people’s right to commit mistake.
Learning community is the place where teaching and learning can take place in the most effective and productive manner. It consists of all instructional features and non-threatening classroom climate needed in planning and implementing all teaching and learning activities. (Corpuz and Salandanan, 2003)

BODY

A learning community is made up of people who share ideas and purpose. It is also conducive area for the learner who wants to learn more. Conducive area must have a proper ventilation, lightning, well-arranged chairs, safest place to study and a friendly environment. It is where the child can focus more to his study, learn more about self-disclosure and practice his social skills. It builds the confidence of the learner, their potentials will be enhanced and a big possibility that new knowledge will be created.
(Yarnit, 2000, p.11) A learning community addresses the learning needs of its locality through partnership. It uses the strength of social and institutional relationships to bring about cultural shifts in perceptions of the value of learning. Learning communities explicitly use learning as a way of promoting social cohesion, regeneration and economic development which involves all parts of the community.
Without the facilitator, which is the adults and the community, a learning community will not be conducive as what we have expected. To achieve the goal that were trying to have, unity and sticking together will develop the capacity to work harmoniously towards each other. It promotes the school’s name for a good cause.
Another definition of learning community is from Department of Education, 2003, p.12, says:
“Learning community is developed where groups of people, linked geographically or by shared interest, collaborate and work in partnership to address their members learning needs. Learning communities facilitated through adult and community education are a powerful tool for social cohesion, community capacity building and social, cultural and economic development”
Simply put, the learning community is embodied largely on the school itself. The institution offers different courses to the students ought to lean from their different fields of interests. When a child enrolls to a specific course, he or she is joined by different persons with the same interest and will be educated by a teacher who is well-versed with the course.
“A learning community is any one of a variety of curricular structures that link together several existing courses- or actually restructure the curricular material entirely- so that students have opportunities for deeper understanding of and integration of the material they are learning, and more interaction with one another and their teachers as fellow participants in the learning enterprise” ( Gabelnick, Maegregor, Matthews & Smith, 1990, p.19)
The foundations of a good learning community are the teachers. A teacher with different perspective is drawn into a single body with the aim to educate. They teach courses, relevant to their specialty. Together with the other educators, they form a curriculum to mold a student to a much effective person with their potential fully developed.
Falk & Kilpatrick, 2000: Field and Spence, 2000 adheres that:
Learning communities are made up of people who share a common purpose. They collaborate to draw individual strengths, respect a variety of perspective, and actively promote learning opportunities. The outcomes are the creation of vibrant, synergistic environment, enhanced potential for all members, and the possibility that new knowledge will be created. Learning through interactions with others in a learning community can build social capital defined as norms, values and networks that can be used for mutual benefit.

CONCLUSION

Through this, learning community has much to give and offer for the learner. It recognizes the importance of interactions between the others. It respects a variety of thoughts and ideas. They value the credibility of each individual. And lastly, it promotes a more purposeful vibrant knowledge to each and everyone.
Learning community often described as a community wherein the learner can be educated. It composes of environment, educators and learners. It facilitates the learning needs of everyone. Such as, enhancing the skills and talents, providing a better future, developing a new you, concealing of oneself. Another is they give more opportunities who’ll knock right in front of your door for a deeper understanding. Interacting with your fellow classmates, schoolmates, friends and teachers. Building the confidence that some don’t have much, sharing a common purpose to have a sufficient knowledge and skills in this complex world that we have.
Giving the best of shot in your life is not when we are learning, it is when we’re starting earning money with our own fully developed skills and broaden knowledge. All the things that the learning community has given is just an example on how we would deal with our own lives later own.
